The Hope Community Alliance formally known as Hope House will continue to offer community resources. This has been a three year journey that led up to the opening of HCA in Rock Hall, Maryland yielding food and clothing.  Hope Community Alliance has expanded its hours to the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 4-7 p.m. The success of HCA will be seen through community volunteers, both from its sponsoring church, Rock Hall Church of God and within the organizations and people from the community.

The vision for HCA was birthed through a group of people with a burden to meet the needs of the Rock Hall community.  At this time HCA is being house in the Rock Hall Church of God’s parsonage. Rock Hall Church of God saw the need for food and clothing and had a heart to serve the people of Kent County. The members started looking at other food and clothing banks in the area and determined that there was a need to partner with the community. So they decided to open HCA formally Hope House from 4 pm to 7 pm to allow for both those who work and those who don’t.

Hope Community Alliance has truly been a collaborative effort. With the help of church members and people in the community it has been an intensive project. The house needed every surface redone and with the help of organizations like Recovery In Motion, Mission House, WCTR and the Chestertown Rotary we have finally completed the facility.  The final piece of the puzzle was getting all new floors throughout the whole house. A grant was given to cover those costs from The Chestertown Rotary.

The grand opening was busy and many organizations were there in support of HCA at the time Hope House including representative from Social Services, the Town of Rock Hall, the Chestertown Rotary, the Rock Hall Lions Club, Kent County Economic Development, Kent County Chamber of Commerce, the Kent County Local Management Board, Kent County Learning Center, and our friends at WCTR had a live remote going on the whole time.

Moving forward HCA will be adding other services including free assistance with resume writing, job interview prep, and more. We are also partnering with WIC and Social Services as well as other organizations to assist in any food or clothing needs throughout Kent County. Hope Community Alliance is accepting non-perishable donations from the community 24/7 on the back deck of the building at 6528 Rock Hall Road in Rock Hall, Maryland. We can also help with a food drive in local businesses if you would like to support the food bank. For more information, contact Michael Riggin at docmerchandise@yahoo.com.
